Where does the time go? As this school year has come to an end, I feel my heels starting to stick into the ground and not want to come out. I can't believe my little girl has completed the 2nd grade! Part of me doesn't want to believe it because that means I am getting older and the other part doesn't want to believe it because that means so much of her life has already flashed before us. Calli is a good student. Very social but not social enough so she gets in trouble. Likes to please her teachers, does very well academically and really enjoys school. Even though most mornings I would wake her up and hear "NO, I don't want to go to school." My staple answer was always, "You're just tired, once you get going, you'll be fine!" When I'd get annoyed, I was quickly reminded of what was heard when my alarm went off every morning, "No, I don't want to get up." I am not a morning person and it appears Calli has followed in my footsteps.
Anyways, Calli says that she will NOT miss the school work because she says it wears her out. I told her that when she couldn't go to sleep at night, I would give her some school work. She said she WOULD miss her teacher....sweet Mrs. Ragone. What an awesome year we had at AR Turner and largely in part to a fabulous 2nd grade teacher!
Colson's school ended last week and being in the 3 year old class, it's hard to say what he is good at other than playing outside. There were very few days that I didn't pick him up when he wasn't filthy. Most days, he could shake his head and sand would fly 3 feet. We also will be spending our days at home finding bugs as that was an everyday school adventure....cheep thrills so I'm not complaining. The complaining part comes when Calli starts crying because she thinks the creature of capture for the day will die and that really makes her sad.
What is in store now....I pray that this week doesn't begin with fighting between the two of them. Calli likes to boss her brother around and Colson doesn't like to take the orders. I am sure you know what that leads to....
I realize this is a long post and they may be long for a little while. I think I am going to like this blogging thing. I want to be able to have a keepsake for us to look back on 15+ years from now and be reminded of who we were, what we did, how God protected and provided, and the day to day things that occur. I think it will be really cool!
