Wednesday we loaded up the cars and headed to the good ole state of M-I-S-S-I-S-S-I-P-P-I for a little vacay with the Cecils. This trip was somewhat a spur of the moment trip. You see, I'm not good at planning trips for our family. I can't ever figure out where to go and being of the marketing profession, it's hard for me to believe all the hype about places when you read about them on the internet. I told my friend Stephanie, who loves to plan trips, that she can plan a trip for her family and pass all the information on to me and we'll take the same trip the next year. I just haven't acted on that idea but I think it's brilliant on my part!
So, Jennifer called us about a month ago and asked if Calli could go with them on this trip they were taking to the beach in Biloxi tagging along with Russell as he had to work a little while they were there. "You all can go if you'd like". My brain thinks great idea...trip planned...someone else planned it. Wes and I really aren't beach people but our kids love the beach and this trip was no exception. The beach was really nice with white sand, no trash and not many people. The water wasn't very clear which is one reason I don't like beaches. I like to be able to see what is under my feet and I don't like for it to be fish. There weren't any waves or shells either which was kind of a bummer for the kids because they couldn't "ride" the waves in or collect shells...two of their favorite things. But they still LOVED the beach. I asked many times if they wanted to go to the pool all the while praying that they would say yes and instead would be answered almost in hysteria NO! So, we spent 3 days at the beach without too much drama.

Colson caught 6 crabs while we were there, 4 or 5 hermit crabs and a dead stingray (that's a boy for you). Okay so we didn't catch the stingray but only because it cut his finger as he tried to catch it. Luckily he didn't have any reaction to the cuts (outside of tears) but we changed out bandaids all week.

The best part was our amazing condo. 20th floor, overlooking the beach, we had an awesome balcony. At night there would be a cool breeze and on the 4th we saw some pretty cool fireworks all down the beach. Of course the casinos had their own firework shows that we could see but there were also just some Average Joe's who spent some pretty good money on their own fireworks and they were all up and down the beach hosting their own "shows".

We had a great time and are thankful for our freedom and for those who fought and continue to fight so that we can live in this great country!

Here's the sure sign that you had too much fun....
