GO AWAY HARVEY

..So this is what A LOT of rain looks like at our house. And when I say A LOT, I mean 49" of rain. Hurricane Harvey hit the Corpus Christi, Rockport area on Friday and by Saturday the rain had made its way to the Houston area and it kept raining....and kept raining....and kept raining. Homes flooded. Streets flooded. Schools flooded. Cars flooded. There were boat rescues ALL OVER Houston and I've never seen anything like it.

Grammy and Grandpa came to live with us for about 4 days while we prayed like crazy that their house wasn't flooding. When we got to take them home on Wednesday, when we finally saw the sun, the DEVASTATION in River Plantation (their neighborhood) was heartbreaking! Hundreds of homes were destroyed. Thankfully Grammy and Grandpa's house was exactly as we had left it with NO water in it. PTL.

Unfortunately our friends, the Yorks weren't as lucky. The kids and I spent Tuesday helping organize donations in the local shelter and Wednesday helping to gut the York's home. We know BJ and Shannon York and love their 2 kids too who are the same age as Calli and Colson. They got 3 feet of water in their house and a small army showed up to help them get everything out, cut sheetrock, rip up floors and get it ready for a remodel.

School was closed for a week and a day for Willis. Other areas of Houston were closed for 3 weeks or more. And some schools had 8 feet of water and had to share schools. Kingwood HS flooded and had to share with Spring Creek HS. So Spring Creek goes from 7 to 11 and Kingwood goes from 11-3. Harvey wreaked havoc on our area.....he'll be remembered for many years to come, unfortunately!
