BRACE FACE

My little baby girl got BRACES THIS WEEK!!!! Can you say All Grown Up? Nope, not gonna say it. She's still my baby girl! This was our fourth trip to the ortho and the fourth time they've (the nurse staff) have told me how great she does each time. Each time, they vent (in the nicest way possible) about how some kids it takes 4 tries to do what they just did....about how some kids are so nervous they can't stop crying....about some kids who can't stand the taste of something and they throw up. Now, I know those are the extreme cases but by this time, I was really starting to believe that Calli was way above normal on the "average patient" chart. Our appointments have been finished early each time...and usually WAY early....like 30-45 minutes, half the time early.
She signed her first contract where she agreed to brush really good, not eat lots of good stuff including gum, tootsie rolls and hard candy. She's been SUPER excited about getting them. Neither Wes nor I ever had braces so her inquisitive questions to us left her even more inquisitive and nervous because we weren't able to answer any of those "Will it hurt? How will they stay on? What happens if....?" questions. The BIG dilimna was what color to get. Whatever goes around the bracket comes in any and every color you could ever imagine. They switch those out every few weeks so her teeth then become a fashion statement. She's got it all planned out. This go around she got pink and black. Next she'll get red and black because it will be during cheer competition season and her team colors are red and black. Next she'll do red and green because it's Christmas. So we are set through December.
No pain or tears so far on day4. And in case you didn't know...braces are cool in the 4th grade :).
