This year Hudson was old enough to play T-Ball. Actually (as Hudson would say), he was old enough to play K-Ball...that's what 4 year olds play. About half way through his season, we made it out to one of the games. Colson was very excited to show him everything he knows. He soon realized that he probably wasn't going to get to teach him to tag a runner out...slide into home....or field a hard hit grounder. He watched the first couple of innnings from the stands. On one of the first few plays a ball was hit, a kid picked it up and ran over and touched first base before the batter got there. And then the batter stayed on first base. Colson was very upset because the runner was staying on first base. He kept saying "He's out". Like maybe it was an oversight by the umpire....oh wait there was no umpire. Christina told him they don't really count outs which baffled Colson. When it was Hudson's turn to bat we cheered him on and he did great. At his next at bat he brought a different bat up to the place. Colson said "He's not using his bat. Where's his bat?" Christina explained that he likes to try everyones bat out. That's a big no-no for Colson...you have to use the same bat!

For the last part of the game I told Colson he could probably go out on the field with Hudson where all the dads were. The dads stand around and help the boys so Colson went out to be a "dad". He was out there laughing trying to get Hudson to pay attention and not be silly playing with his friend. I reminded Colson that the first time he played T-ball he cried out in the field to Wes saying "I just want to sit on my mama's lap".
It was cute! And a reminder at how far Colson has come....and maybe Hudson will follow in his footsteps.
