A VISIT FROM SANTA

Over the month of November and December we spent every night reviewing Colson's lines for the 4th grade musical/play. After all Santa Claus has to get his Ho Ho Ho's just right. That's right, the star of the show was the one and only Colson Schubert. He had a lot of lines to memorize and a solo. He had to audtion for the part. He says he didn't think he would get it that's why he auditioned but I'm not sure he would have done it if he didn't think he had a chance.

He memorized the lines really easily which was nice. When he broke his collarbone, apparantlly the music teacher freaked out and almost took the part from him. By then he had everything memorized and had worked really hard at learning everything. His teacher intervened. The music teacher was worried that he wouldn't be able to hold onto the sleigh with one hand and wave to the audience with the other...which happens in one of the scenes. His teacher told me that she looked at the music teacher and said "Hey, it's Schu Schu (his nickname). He'll figure out a way." Boy do they know my kid.

Of course we had our favorite spectators with Hudson and Cam

Ms. Gray, his teacher, was so sweet and supportive
It was really cute after the program when he stood out for the younger kids to give him 5 and shake his hand.
