Colson was the first to shoot a deer this season. He shot a doe at their lease in New Waverly.
Calli shot her first deer this year....ever! She usually doesn't get to go hunting because she always has something...usually cheer related. She not only shot the deer first glance but then was involved with the skinning of it. Good times.
The day before we all went as a family. I never get to go either because I'm usually running wherever Calli has to be around. So the one night we had nothing to do, we all went. I just went to watch and the goal was for Calli to shoot something so Colson stayed with me in the observation stand. And apparently from all the facebook posts, the poor mans stand. About 5 minutes into it, I had not said a word, nor had I even made a peep. Colson leans into me and proceeds to go on and on about how bad of a hunter I am and how they'll never shoot a deer while I'm there. I totally blew him off not really sure if he was serious or kidding....and trying not to care. Finally I reached up and popped him and he happened to turn his head just right to where I popped him in mouth. And then the pouting began. So really my nice relaxing evening of watching deer, was totally ruined by my mouthy 10 year old.
I'm not sure how I was the one that was going to ruin the hunt because he's the one that had to pee within 3 minutes of getting to the stand.
Somehow I snapped this picture before he got mad at me for doing nothing.
That was all over Thanksgiving. Right before Christmas break, Colson missed the last 2 days of school to go up to Uncle Harris' big high fence ranch. He came home with this one....
On the Wednesday he went to school, he wore this shirt to school. He slept in it that Wednesday night and wore it out early Thursday morning when they left. When I met up with him on Saturday with this smiling face holding his deer head, he STILL had this shirt on. That's the life of a boy.
And of course Colson did a photo splice to show his deer head against Calli's. Colson's is on top.
