THE SPIRITUAL CHILD

While my one kid was being of the world and doing back flips about her new TV she won, my other kid was preparing for a momentous evening at church. A couple of months ago, Colson asked me why I would never let him get baptised. Of course it wasn't a matter of me not letting him, I was just waiting for him to ask because when he asked, I knew he probably understood. And sure enough, he understood. So when they announced the next baptism at the church I signed him up. Since we are fairly new to this church, I knew they probably didn't know Colson's "salvation story". So when I filled out the card for him to be baptised, I also inserted a copy of the insert from my blog where I had "penned" the even more momentous day when he became God's child. It's times like these when I feel so thankful that I take the time to tap on this keyboard every few days. How awesome that I have this kind of stuff documented.

So at church one Sunday, Ava, the pastors wife, mentioned that she got the blog insert and wondered if I would maybe want to read it. I thought that would make it really special for our family so I was thrilled to be able to do that.

And I did....choking back a few tears....but I made it. Colson was so excited that whole day. When he got in the car after school until he went to bed that night, he was giddy....hyper....just excited! He couldn't wipe the smile off his face. We had to be at the church a little early and Colson actually started horse playing with Pastor Ronnie. In case you didn't know...that's the true sign that Colson trusts and/or likes you...when he jumps on your back and tries to play tackle with you. I know, it's not necessarily what every human likes to do but it's his way of showing his love. Boys! Pastor Ronnie told him it may not be a wise idea to try and tackle the one man that was going to hold him under water later that evening. LOL!

It was a fabulous evening and we were so thankful that most of the family was there to mark the occassion...my dad was out of town but other than that all were present. And Grammy took us out for frozen yogurt afterwards. Yummy!
