SCHOOL IS BACK....HAS BEEN BACK

Now that we are almost done for the first 6 weeks, I think I'll try and jump back on this blog bandwagon and post a little. I guess I'm just going to make my posts short and sweet and show my pictures. I really like how I bind all my posts into one book for the year so even if all I have is pictures with short captions, that is much better than pictures scattered across the house in 5, 10, 50 years.

A little school shopping before the big first day....

All is well in the academic world. But the first 6 weeks is always easy isn't it? Calli started 8th grade and is obsessed with her straight hair....sorry Calli, it's true. It is gorgeous though :) This year she's in Algebra. I LOVE Algebra! This is the first year to start a new thing called reverse classroom. So her homework is to watch a video of her teacher teaching the Algebra concept and in class they work through the homework. At first I thought "WHAT????" But the more I thought about it, I really think the concept is fantastic. If they don't get the concept, they could potentially watch the video over and over and over and over until it clicks! And then instead of bringing homework problems that none of us remember how to do and that she can't do because she was wondering if her hair was as straight as it was when she left this morning and didn't fully listen to the lesson, she does them in class with her teacher there to help answer questions and maybe even reteach parts.

She's all grown up!

Colson started 4th grade. Calli's all time favorite teacher who we were so excited to finally have, got moved this year to another school. BOO!!!! He's got 3 teachers and seems to be doing well. He's actually a fairly good student and I'm not really sure why that surprises me. He's not an over acheiver by any means but he doesn't like to get in trouble and wants to do his work and do it right.

This is his homeroom teacher, Mrs. Gray. She was also Calli's teacher in 4th grade (she had 2, he has 3).

And me....I turned 40.....what grade is that?

Calli helped Colson get his binder all organized before school started. I think it was some brother, sister bonding time. Then she snuck in and wrote this sweet note on the binder. Another sign that I THINK they really do love each other :)
