This is Calli's third year to take piano and Sunday we enjoyed listening to all Mrs. Russel's students showcase what they learned this year. Calli has definately progressed year after year and this year the foot pedal was introduced...very exciting! Calli is an ear player. She would much rather sit down and figure out the tune by beating it out on the keys without looking at music. If I've said "Look at the music" once, I've said it a 100 times. But in all honesty, it's a skill that you can't learn. While you can teach a child to read music and play the piano, picking songs out by ear is fairly difficult. Anyways, she did great. She doesn't seem to get nervous and it's great for her to get in front of people to perform what she has worked so hard at all year.
