A BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION-AGAIN

For several weeks we went round and round about Colson's birthday party. He wanted a baseball party. I knew what he meant....he wanted to play a game....but I tried to propose several different baseball party ideas including games like who could hit the woofle ball the farthest with a pool noodle, a pop fly game, a run the bases game, etc.  His answer "Nah". I even proposed an Astros game where you got to tour Minute Maid and go down on the field. His answer "Maybe". His idea? Assign everyone a team before they get there and tell them to wear a certain color depending on what team they were on. Then when they get there we play a real baseball game. Put a blanket over the pool and put a sign that says "No Swimming". Get a baseball pinata and allow (only) him to hit it until it busts open and then everyone can go for the candy (wow! how nice of him). I told him the covering the pool idea wouldn't work and suggested we play a little baseball and then go swimming. He didn't really want to do that but Wes intervened and said "Just do it".

So I told him that he was in charge of playing baseball and he had to start as soon as kids started arriving because that's all Colson really wanted to do. Of course then Wes totally backs down and takes my side saying "This isn't going to work. How am I supposed to play baseball with them? They are just going to want to swim" UGH! Let's see dear....in your own words...."Just do it!"

But of course we underestimated the obsession that most of these boys have with baseball. Of course they wanted to play. And after they played and got all hot they were ready for a cool dip in the pool. And then some got back out to play again.

Notice Colson's face....he did NOT want to pause for a picture.

And as for the pinata....he got his way. Colson being the birthday boy got to go first. He took 3 wacks at it and it fell off the rope. Then he just beat it on the ground until it broke open. And actually the kids didn't seem to care.

I had put 10 $1 bills in it and Mathew, the arrow kid, was the smart one. He went after the money...and got 7 out of the 10. He said now he could buy his own candy! Love it!

As an afterparty Colson had two friends spend the night, Hagan and Cole. Do they look like trouble?

The kids had a great time. So much so that they wanted to have the Legends team party there this Thursday. By then, I will be partied out.....I will have had 6 parties/get togethers in 11 days.
And because it was boys only, Calli and Carson had to dress the part.
