I NEVER CLAIMED TO BE A GOOD COOK

I'm not a good cook. I'm not really a bad cook either. My food is edible. I don't like to cook either. Food just doesn't excite me. I realize boiling eggs really isn't cooking but the first 5 sentences MAY explain the disaster that exploded my kitchen recently.

I had about 45 minutes before I had to start the first round of kid pickups. I decided I would boil some eggs because my kids like them for breakfast and snacks. I put the eggs on and went to get my phone to set the timer. As I picked up my phone it started ringing and it was a work call so I took it…..and the eggs never crossed my mind again.

Fast forward 90 minutes…..I walked right by the kitchen and out the door to pick up Calli from school. I went and dropped her off to get her haircut, left her there while I went and picked up Colson, came back to pick her up from her haircut and went and dropped her off at a friends before finally coming back home….3 hours later. We walked in the door and immediately smelled a burning smell which makes your heart stop. Colson took about 10 steps in and fell to the ground because he saw smoke and yelled "we have to stop, drop and roll". He was kidding because it was obvious there wasn't a fire but it was smoky.

It took me a second to figure out what exactly it was that had burned but the kitchen floor immediately triggered my brain "hey you forgot to set the timer for the eggs." The eggs had EXPLODED. I had about 10 eggs in the pot to boil….as you can see I had the remains of probably 4. The other 6 and part of those 4 were scattered all over the open part of the house. I found egg shells in the living room by the TV all the way to the window in the eating area.

I am not a science nerd but I would have LOVED to be there when they exploded. It almost makes me want to do it again to see what really happens when you boil eggs too long. It took forever to get rid of the smell. It wasn't a rotten eggs smell, it was a somebody burned something smell.
