It was a terrible horrible, no good very bad day by 1 PM and it just got worse. It was a beautiful Monday in October. The kids were out of school for Columbus Day. The boys had gone to the Ranch and were on their way home. I had asked Calli to clean her room and hang up her clothes ALL WEEKEND! I let her do something with her friends on Sunday because she promised me that she'd wake up in the morning (Monday) and hang them up before ACT tutorials. So imagine my surprise anger when I walked into her room at the time she was supposed to be leaving for ACT tutorials to realize she had laid down to take a nap instead of hanging up her clothes and cleaning her room.
I admit it. I lost it. I mean LOST it. I started screaming at her to get up and demanding to know why she was sleeping instead of doing what she had promised to do. I couldn't even listen to her response because she needed to get in the car and leave and I did too....I had a work meeting in Houston that I was on my way to. And frankly, there was no good excuse.
So she went on her way, and I went on mine. About 2 hours later I get a call from Wes who tells me that Calli got in a wreck. Of course she wouldn't have called me because of the way that I had parted with her earlier in the day. I dropped my boss off at the hotel and immediately headed back to Willis and called her. She was ok (thank goodness) but did have to get her car towed because the wheel was messed up. I met her at the repair shop and had to handle affairs before we finally got in my car. She immediately broke down crying when she got in the car. She was scared. She was turning left and had to go across 4 lanes of traffic. She didn't see the car in the far lane that clipped her back driver side and sent her spinning. Thank God she didn't hit anything else and her airbag didn't even deploy.
We got a loaner car from John Fountain's car lot which caused Calli to be VERY grateful for her car. She affectionately called the loaner car the CRUNCHMOBILE. We were just grateful to have another car to drive.
