I've mentioned before that my son is Mr. Studious when it comes to the first grade. On more than one occassion he has sighed in frustration on a Saturday morning when he realizes he won't be going to school and therefore WON'T HAVE HOMEWORK. He loves to tell me how he takes his time on his work every day and doesn't rush through like his friend Karson. On most days I wake him up with little prompting and as Calli is moaning "I wish I didn't have to go to school" he's right behind her in one of those annoying chipper as can be voices chiming "I love school! Calli it's so fun to learn!"
And because of his enthusiasm he has turned into a reading machine as my mom calls him. While we used to take at least two nights on our home readers (where you have to read the book 3 times before you can take a test and turn it in) he now wants to change it in every day! He loves library day where he hopes to move his name up to the next level in points. He gets really upset with himself if he doesn't make a 100 on his AR test and he tries to read every sign every place that we go. I steer clear of those inappropriate bumper stickers...why must people do that?
So last week my mom and I went up to Mrs. Hurst's class to help the kids paint paper bag pumpkins. My mom had Hudson and we called the kids out into the hall a few at a time while they were in their reading centers. Mrs. Hurst called me into the classroom at one point to capture this picture.
Colson was reading and Hudson just backed himself into his lap listening intently to the story at hand. Colson loves an audience to his reading and Hudson is his favorite.
