Last week the weather people around here were really getting excited. On Monday they started talk of snow that would come on Friday. All I heard? "Blah, blah, blah". I must agree it did get cold. So cold that our teachers wouldn't even come out to get our kids out of the car at drop off. So by Thursday they had everyone in a crazy winter storm state. My winter storm state is nothing different than my summer heat state and winter NON storm state except that I MAY wear a coat only to get hot (as usual) in the car and wish I hadn't worn it. By noon on Thursday they had called off school for Friday and were preparing us for 1 to 4 inches of snow. That's HUGE for this area. It was supposed to start snowing between 3 and 6 pm on Thursday. 3 o'clock came and went with no snow. 6 o'clock came and went with no snow. Midnight came and went with no snow. Friday, 8 AM we awoke to.....SNOW!!! Wait does this really count as snow? When less than a month ago we were in
snow up to our wastes I really don't see how this can count as snow. Maybe all of Montgomery County misunderstood the weather man when he said milimeters we thought inches?
So they called off school for some ice on the overpasses but no snow. Every activity was called off (some since Wednesday). But the part that made the whole day comical was that stores were closed. When I went into town to help move a friend and stopped by Ulta to get some lipstick, they were closed. The sun was shining but the doors were locked. So I will remember that day as the day the world shut down (or at least this part of the world). Breckenridge got like 10" that day and they were upset they didn't have more.
The bright spot? My sweet, thoughtful Calli woke up and made me pancakes (plain and rasberry) and eggs. I even had my own seat with signage...I was VIP!
