CAREER DAY

A few weeks ago Wes and my sister participated in a big event at AR Turner....Career Day. When Calli came home with the note at the first of April asking what parents would like to come and share their job I was painfully disappointed when she skipped right over me and ran the note to Wes. Wes says if I'd have gone, I would have to explain the daily chore of shopping, gettting pedicures and eating lunch with friends! I'm deeply offended by his thought process...I DO WORK (out) you know? Just kidding, I work too but I guess my job isn't nearly as exciting as looking at numbers all day....which means my job must REALLY stink.

Being the first week in April, I think Calli caught Wes in a weak and unfocused moment. At that time he was up to his eyeballs in tax returns and probably saying "yes" to anything just to get us to be quiet. Well this "yes" brought him up close and personal to some 3rd, 4th and 5th graders. Wes said it went okay but they were up against some steep competition. They had the army, policmen, firemen, gymnastics coaches...all with cool props and trucks to look inside. He had a calculator!

Today Calli brought home some thank you notes and I thought I'd share a few funny ones with you....

Mr. Schubert,
I loved learning about an easier way to do taxts. Love Michaela (She may have been thinking he was giving her tips on the TAKS test because really...did she know how to do them at all to have been introduced to an easier way?)

I loved hearing about your job. I hope Calli can do it. Love, Kenzi (For whatever reason, it sounds like Kenzi doesn't want to pursue accounting)

All the math you do, you must be smart. Thanks for coming. Isaiah (Sound like Wes and Stina put on a good front)

Mr. Schubert,
Thanks for coming and talking to us about takes. Now I'm prepared. Jayce (Do you think his parents are asking him to do their tax return?)

Mr. Schubert,
I love how you can add all that up. Bailey

Dear Mr. Schubert,
Thank you for coming to AR Turner! I do not want to be a CPA, but that is an interesting job. I think I would be good at your job because I make 3's on math, but I think I will be an Air Force person! Your friend, Maddy  (This one cracked me up. I love the raw honesty)

And my ultimate favorite....
You are a great CPA. I love that you got to tell me more than I already know about your job! But always remember you are an awesome DAD! Calli Grace
