LA….Hollywood….Beverly Hills….we saw it all. Or I guess we saw all that we cared to. I should say that LA is not quite as glamorous as I anticipated. It wasn’t until we traveled down Rodeo Drive that I thought “Now this is what I thought Hollywood would look like”. We decided to forego the bus tour of the famous people because it was 2 hours and quite frankly, I’m not sure our kids could have sat 2 hours to look at some houses that famous people live in or once lived in…shoot they probably had just walked in them. I’m just kidding I know the tour was legit but my kids really don’t know who those famous people are.
After we ate lunch at The Hard Rock Café , we hit the "Walk of Fame"

Took a couple of pics with some famous people who were out enjoying the afternoon sunshine
And then did a self guided tour down Rodeo Drive and through some of the finer parts of Beverly Hills.
We then decided to jump start our experience at Universal Studios and hit the park tonight. So far Universal is a BIG thumbs up. Colson really just wanted to stay at the hotel and swim (remember he’s my homebody) but I convinced him (ok forced him) to go to the park to validate our season passes (season passes was teh cheapest way when we bought them through the military) so we wouldn’t have to stand in line in the morning to do it. I told him I would bring him back after we did that if he didn’t want to walk around so he could swim.
So we ventured in to the first walk through event we saw. Only Colson and I sat out because it was the House of Horrors. And if you follow my blog you know Horrors and Colson do not go well together. I’m hoping I can go through tomorrow because I watched the people exiting who were close to heart attack level so I’m dying to know what’s inside. Hilary and the girls thought they could do it but around the first corner they were all climbing all over her screaming so she took the first emergency exit she could find out of there.
We decided to sit and watch one of the shows “Water World”. And lucky us, Hilary found us a spot in the Soak Section…1st row. I was anticipating that they were exaggerating the soak part and was expecting to get sprinkled. Mark it down as my first time for being wrong. Some of the “actors” came out to warm up the crowd prior to the show starting. A guy, this guy, who looks so nice outside of his “role”
stood in front of our section and said “Hi” and gestured to us to respond with “Hi” back. As you can expect, it was a pretty weak “Hi” so he grabs a bucket, fills it with water and throws it right at us. I think the whole bucket went on me the first AND second time. I was dripping wet. Then he gets this massive water gun apparatus and starts squirting it randomly through the group (I can’t remember what we did or didn’t do that time). Colson wanted to get wet so he jumps up and does this “come and get me” stance and yells “I wanna get wet”. He was standing right in front of me so I pushed him forward…I was done getting wet. I pushed him up there twice because he kept jumping back to standing in front of me. When I pushed him the second time the guy looks at me and says “Well don’t push him” and then squirts me from head to toe. I felt like I had walked through a car wash. After several more soaks from the actual show, I was absolutely soaked. And so was the rest of our group.
We rode a couple of rides which were an absolute blast! And the lines were maybe a 30 minute wait but we were constantly moving. The highlight was that Colson wasn’t scared of anything. Tomorrow we hit the park again. Hoping it’s as fun tomorrow. And for those of you wondering if Colson ever got to swim, never fear, he did. Only it was 8:30 at night, the pool was outside and NOT heated. It was FREEZING. A sure sign we weren't in Texas anymore.
