And coach Larry being the nice guy he is bought all the kids an ice cream cone and let Colson get whatever he wanted which was an oreo blast.
Yesterday was our second game and Colson walked away with the game ball. His stellar game knocked 2 balls to the fence for 2 home runs and led the Wilkcats to a 14 to 7 win.
Most kids want their ball savored in a display case and set out for all to see and to reflect on when you are 18. My kid just likes to put it in the candy dish. I guess he knows everyone would see it. And maybe he was trying to prevent me from eating all the jelly beans.
I had a weak moment a couple of weeks ago and committed to Colson playing on a Select team for a tournament this weekend. They were down 2 players and asked Colson to pitch in. This team asked him to play when they were forming the team and on that day I had a backbone and said "We'll pass this year." I wasn't ready for 2 tournaments a month and 3 practices a week in Montgomery. Colson came home last night with the fanciest get up I've ever seen. The "stuff" alone had me questioning if maybe we should have played...and then I was brought back to reality. Of course Colson was deeply disappointed when I informed him that we'd have to give all of it back after this weekend. He had big plans for that stuff. He had the backpack tagged for school and he was in love with the red cleets! We'll see how this weekend goes....we've got a lot going on so I hope I don't end up in the corner curled in the fetal position.

Way to go, Colson! I used to love getting the game ball. Fly balls were my specialty too! :) I wish Alex would show interest in baseball. Right now, it's just soccer and anything to do with motorcycles, monster trucks, etc.
