So we woke up this morning to 10" of snow in NYC. The girls were so excited. They kept looking out the window as we got dressed to the courtyard below. Forget Central Park, where we were headed for the day, they just wanted to go play in the courtyard. We promised them that Central Park would be way better than the small little block of cement below us. But their excitement overpowered us and we stopped there on our way to the Subway, which is when we found that it wasn't a hotel courtyard but some kind of memorial area and was locked up.

Still pictures were taken at this first stop of snow. Then we headed to Central Park. We pleaded with the girls to not get wet until after lunch, which we were having at Tavern on the Green. We thought if they could just play in the snow casually for an hour or so, we could do a horse drawn carriage through Central Park, eat and then they could play hard after lunch. We knew that if they got snow all over them they would freeze and then make the rest of the day miserable. But of course at age 9, your plan is always better than your mom's who knows nothing. So, we walked about 10 feet into Central Park and they were climbing in the mounds of powder snow up to their knees. And then not 100 feet down from that spot, they were laying in the snow doing snow angels.

The snow and wet got to Carson first and the tears started as we headed to lunch, which was an experience. Tavern on the Green is a huge place. Kinda outdated in its decor and apparantly filed bankruptcy in September. It may even be the last few days of its existance as Tavern on the Green. We had some poor waitstaff and the food was descent, nothing to write home about. The tone was set in the beginning when Jennifer, Carson and Calli all ordered tea. As the waiter was confirming our drink orders and recited back hot tea, we gently corrected him and he went on his way. About 10 minutes later he comes back and says they don't have any iced tea, they only have hot tea. It was all Jennifer could do to hold back her thought and I could see it in her eyes as she changed their order to orange juice. She wanted to say...."you know all you have to do is put some ice in that hot tea and it becomes iced tea?" But she didn't. We laughed most of the lunch as we educated our girls on how to eat at a nice restaraunt, starting with how to hold the glass correctly.

As we left Tavern on the Green, we again pleaded with the girls to not get all wet again until after the horse drawn carriage and again they thought they were smarter. After standing in line for the horse drawn carriage, Calli's tears started because her toes were soooo cold. The sympathy was hard to fake because of the lectures we had already given them trying to prevent the tears.
Regardless, the girls LOVED the snow! We topped off the day with an AMAZING seat in the broadway Lion King. It was awesome! We are definately tired (again) tonight and ready for a few quick runs in the morning and then headed to the airport. Willis...here we come. And then 4 days to Christmas. Are you kidding me?
