NEW YORK DAY 2

Ok so 6 am came early this morning as we awoke to be adventurous for the 2nd day (1st full day) in the Big Apple. About 8 am I was thinking 'I wonder if they'll let me slip a nap in today'. Luckily my energy picked up because we definately packed a lot in. We started out at the Today show. Standing out in 16 degrees weather, sandwiched between really tall buildings and no sun made for a tough 'this is so fun' face. The girls managed to get in the front row where they were seen on camera as it panned the crowd. I was seen too but not many of you out there noticed me. An even bigger highlight was that Meredith and Al came over to shake their hand and Meredith even spent some time talking to the girls (all off camera of course). But the girls though all of this was really cool and this was Carson's highlight of day 2.
The rest of the day was spent walking all over the city stopping in at some of the iconic retail landmarks of the city like The M&M store, NBC store and Toys R Us where we rode the ferris wheel. We also made a stop in the Charmin to go restrooms again...and again it was another highlight for the girls. When Calli called home tonight, that's what she wanted to talk about. This time we actually stopped in to use the restroom and it was nuts. They had ipods in every bathroom and tv's in some of them. After each use someone came in and cleaned the toilet. Don't you wish you could have that as your part time job?

Calli's favorite thing of today was visiting Top of the Rock. This is the observation deck located at the top of the Rockefeller Center. It was a great view of the city. The elevator was a cool ride as we floated up 69 floors to the top. They dimmed the lights and had outside lights on the tracks. You could see through the top and we laughed thinking of how Colson would have freaked out!

After lunch we took the Subway, another highlight for the girls, down to China town. I have no pictures of China town because frankly I was a little nervous to slow down long enough to take a picture and the thought of slowing down to pull out a nice camera to take a picture terrified me. The streets were packed with people and vendors inside the little hole in the wall retail spaces as well as those set up on fold up tables along. The even freakier vendors were those rolling around luggage whispering in your ear....coach, louis vuitton, juicy and a whole list of other fakes. Jennifer being the sucker that she is, got fooled by a china town street vendor, who happened to be an African American dude. He had New Moon on DVD and she became weak in the knees for it. She's weak in the knees for all things New Moon. Now why he would have it on DVD when it's still in the theatres really didn't factor into her distorted logic. Nor did she factor in the fact that she bought Alvin and the Chipmunks 2 years ago and it was bootlegged. No, she bought the line 'but technology has changed so much. These are great quality'. Luckily she only spent $5. But rest assured I pointed and laughed and willingly popped the movie into my laptop when we got back in the room so that she could show her disgust in the dude that lied to her. It was somebody that went into the theatre, sat in a seat and videoed the movie playing on the screen. Not even bothering to mute out the talking and coughing around him.

We made it back via Subway and at 5:30 the girls were ready to go to sleep at our table at dinner. They were exhausted and you could tell. Of course they still aren't asleep but they've been laying in bed since 7:30 tonight and Jennifer was worn out too and was snoring by 8 pm. Tomorrow will be a big day and we are bracing ourselves for the snow storm that may hit here tomorrow night. 6-10 inches of snow is expected. Holy cow!!!!
