That's what Jennifer said as we departed from our plane yesterday at 6:00 pm safe and sound. While I thought it was much chillier than I expected, I wouldn't call it a tropical heat wave but it was nothing like the snow and cold we had just come from.
To top off our amazing trip, we ended up taking a limo to the airport and the girls thought they had died and gone to heaven. They wanted to text everyone they knew within our phone books(which consisted of mom, grandma, aunts and uncles) and tell them. We wouldn't let them because we wanted them to look out the window and enjoy the City as we made our way through scaffolding, taxi cabs and dirty snow. So they got out their DS's. Before I get accused of absolutely spoiling my 9 year old, a limo is not what we ordered. We reserved a car service back to the airport that we were told was cheaper than a cab. Lucky for us (or the girls), they brought us the limo instead of the towncar. So that was a fun icing on the cake. The joy was quickly depleted when we arrived at the airport to find out we didn't have a seat on the plane. I handed the rude lady our 4 boarding passes and smiled as she told me "she'd have to see". There were 2 long pages of people who didn't have a seat and that was not including standby people, they weren't even talking to them. Because so many flights were cancelled the day before, they were slowly trying to put people on flights throughout the day. Why those people got my seat that I booked 2 months ago, I still haven't figured out. Jennifer, the girls and I sat huddled on the floor eating our McDonalds lunch while Jennifer snapped for the girls to not talk and her and I discussed if we should hit the lady with some nice (me) or some tough and mean (Jennifer). For those that don't know Jennifer, you don't want to cross her when she gets mad....and she was getting mad. I went ahead and jumped up to be nice and stood at the counter while the messenger reassigned seats for people that were no shows. Poor Continental lady, I know it wasn't her fault but if she had been a tad bit nicer, it would have calmed some of those angry passengers down. Long story short, we boarded the flight and Calli and Carson sat in row 34 together with some guy they didn't know named David. While Jennifer sat about 10 rows up and I sat in the very first row. All was well especially since the amazing technology that is available. Each seat had it's own tv screen with movies and tv shows on demand, games and music. I pulled out my laptop, plugged it in to keep charging, plugged my phone in to charge and sat back to watch The Proposal, which I had rented the night before. Pretty cool!
So we are all home safe and sound. I was glad to be back home with the two men in my life, Wes and Colson. Although Colson acted too cool for me. At least Wes was glad to see me. Now we have 4 days to Christmas and today I'll figure out if I'm ready or not.
